Flower Gardening

Whether you love growing flowers because of their vibrant colors, their beauty, or to give the outside of your home a face lift. Your personality will come through in the way you present your flowers. You have the option of growing flowers in pots, hanging baskets, flower beds or even in boarders along your walkway. So feel free to use your creativity.

One thing you will need is good potting soil and sheep manure .I prefer a mixture of 3/4 black soil and 1/4 sheep manure. If you are going to plant flowers in a box or pot, mix your soil and manure in a pail or wheel barrow. Then in the bottom of your pot lay several stones on the bottom (this helps the water drain), then fill your pot with soil to about two inches from the top. You don't want to put to many flowers in your pots, so I usually sit the flowers on top of the soil to do a rough layout before I plant them. This also helps you get your spacing even.

Try to think how big the flowers are going to be at full size. If you don't know most will say on their info spikes. Take your flowers out of the flower trays carefully. Gently massage the roots to loosen them before planting, then dig about two to three inches down into the soil. Do not go to deep. Place your flower into the space and push the soil in to the remaining space then press the soil firmly to hold the flower in it's spot. Do not pack the soil down to hard. Water you flowers generously, watch them grow and always enjoy them.
